Bathing Your Puppy

It’s a good idea to get your puppy used to bathing when he’s still young—this way, he grows up with bathing as a normal part of life. Learn how to bathe Fido successfully from your North Phoenix, AZ veterinary professional:

The Set Up

First, put an inch or so of lukewarm water into the sink or tub where you’ll be bathing your pooch. You may also consider putting down a rubber mat to help Fido maintain his footing. Get your canine-specific shampoo and a large, soft towel, and you’re ready to begin.

Wet and Lather

Start by wetting your dog’s body with lukewarm water, taking care to avoid the face. Now, dab a small amount of the shampoo onto your hand and begin massaging it into your dog’s coat. Work your way down the body from neck to tail.

Rinse, Dry, and Reward

Once your pup has been thoroughly shampooed, rinse the coat out thoroughly with more lukewarm water. Now, dry your pooch off with the towel. Be sure to offer your puppy a few dog treats for a job well done!
