Our feline friends are quite mysterious! There are plenty of myths and misconceptions floating around when it comes to cats. Below, your Thousand Oaks, CA veterinarian tells you about three common misconceptions that you shouldn’t believe.
Cats Always Land on Their Feet
This isn’t true. Cats are graceful, yes, but they don’t always land on all fours. In fact, cats can slip out of open windows or off of high ledges and seriously injure themselves. Shorter falls are even more dangerous, because a cat doesn’t have time to right themselves before impact.
Cats Love Milk
This is a half-truth. Cats may happily lap up milk if it’s presented to them, but that doesn’t mean they should have it. You may be surprised to learn that most adult cats are lactose-intolerant, and will likely experience vomiting or diarrhea if too much milk is consumed.
Cats Are Fine By Themselves for a Few Days
While our feline friends are independent, it’s best to have someone look in on them if you’re going to be away from home for a while. Food and water dishes need refilled, and the litter box needs cleaned!
