If you own a kitten, it’s best to get them acclimated to bathing early on in life. This way, it’ll be far easier to give your cat a bath when she’s fully grown! Here, your Frisco, TX veterinarian goes over the basics.
Gather Your Supplies
Before starting your kitten’s bath, gather everything you’ll need near the sink or tub where you’ll be bathing Fluffy. You’ll want to have a feline-formulated shampoo, a cup or mug to fill with water, a large towel, and a few cat treats.
Getting Started
Fill the tub or sink with about an inch of lukewarm water, then gently put your kitten into it to get the paws wet. When she’s comfortable, douse your kitten with the lukewarm water via your cup or mug. Now, dab a small dot of the shampoo into your kitten’s fur and gently massage it through; take care to avoid the face and ears.
Rinse, Dry, and Reward
Once kitty has been thoroughly bathed, rinse her off with more water from the cup. Dry her gently with the towel, then offer a few treats for a job well done.
